As I sit here doing some observations of children for my thesis research, I have been reminded of how easy it is to include music into the daily routine of a young child. The day care centre I am currently observing has done a great job. Children sing without prompting, educators will join in with their singing or just start sing songs spontaneous and there are instruments and recorded music available for children to use. It doesn't sound like much but makes a big start in the musical development of young children. It can be done at home so easily as well. You don't have to be a trained professional musician to start your children on a wonderful musical journey.
